1. About these terms

These Terms and Conditions apply to all plumbing, heating, gas, bathroom and related services supplied by A C White Plumbing & Heating (“we”, “us” or “our”).

By accepting a quotation, booking an appointment, authorising work to begin or asking us to attend your property, you agree to these terms.

Nothing in these terms affects your statutory rights.

2. Quotations and estimates

Written quotations are valid for 30 days unless we state otherwise. A quotation is based on the information available at the time and includes only the work specifically described.

Estimates are an indication of likely cost and are not fixed prices. Where unforeseen work, additional materials or changes to the original instructions are required, we will explain this and seek your approval before continuing wherever reasonably possible.

3. Bookings and access

Appointments are arranged for agreed dates and times, subject to availability. Please ensure that we can gain safe access to the property and relevant services, including water, gas, electricity, meters, boilers and pipework.

If access is not available, or work cannot safely proceed because of circumstances outside our control, we may charge a reasonable attendance or wasted-visit fee.

4. Customer responsibilities

You are responsible for:

  • Providing accurate information about the property and the issue requiring attention.

  • Telling us about known hazards, previous work, hidden pipework, asbestos or other relevant risks.

  • Obtaining any necessary permissions from landlords, managing agents or other property owners.

  • Removing or protecting valuables, furnishings and belongings near the work area.

  • Ensuring children and pets are kept away from the work area.

5. Prices and payment

Our prices will be set out in the quotation, estimate, invoice or agreed rate.

Unless agreed otherwise in writing, payment is due within [7] days of the invoice date. For larger projects, we may require a deposit or staged payments. Any deposit and payment schedule will be confirmed before work begins.

We reserve the right to charge interest and reasonable recovery costs on overdue sums, where permitted by law.

Materials remain our property until paid for in full.

6. Cancellations and changes

If you need to cancel or rearrange an appointment, please give us at least [24/48] hours’ notice. We may charge a reasonable cancellation or wasted-visit fee where insufficient notice is given, materials have been ordered, or an engineer has attended.

Where consumer cancellation rights apply to a booking made away from our business premises, by telephone or online, you may have a legal right to cancel within 14 days. If you ask us to begin work during that period, you may be required to pay for work completed and materials supplied up to the point of cancellation. Emergency work requested by you may need to begin immediately.

7. Materials, parts and replacement items

We will normally supply suitable materials and parts unless agreed otherwise. If you provide materials or equipment, we are not responsible for their quality, compatibility, availability or any delay caused by them.

Manufacturer warranties apply to relevant goods or appliances and are subject to the manufacturer’s own terms. We will provide available paperwork for products supplied and installed by us.

8. Gas work and safety

Gas work will only be carried out by appropriately qualified and Gas Safe registered engineers.

If we identify a gas-safety concern, unsafe appliance or immediate risk, we may need to make the appliance safe in line with applicable gas-safety requirements. We will explain the situation and any recommended next steps.

Gas safety records and certificates will be issued where applicable to the work carried out.

9. Workmanship and guarantees

We take pride in providing professional workmanship. Any workmanship guarantee offered by us will be confirmed in writing and applies only to the work we have completed.

Our guarantee does not cover faults caused by misuse, lack of maintenance, accidental damage, normal wear and tear, pre-existing defects, third-party work, defective customer-supplied materials or circumstances outside our reasonable control.

10. Damage and unforeseen conditions

We will take reasonable care while carrying out work. However, some work may reveal hidden defects, corroded pipework, existing leaks, faulty wiring, poor previous workmanship or other conditions that were not visible before work began.

We are not responsible for unavoidable minor damage reasonably necessary to access concealed services, such as lifting floors, opening boxing-in or removing tiles. We will discuss likely access requirements with you where possible.

11. Delays

We will make reasonable efforts to complete work within any estimated timescale. However, delays can occur because of weather, supplier availability, access issues, unforeseen defects, additional work, illness or events outside our reasonable control.

We will keep you informed of significant delays where reasonably possible.

12. Complaints

If you are unhappy with any part of our service, please contact us as soon as possible:

Telephone: 01323 640702
Email: Enquiries@acwhite.co.uk

We will investigate the issue and aim to respond within [5] working days.

13. Liability

We are responsible for loss or damage caused by our negligence or failure to meet our legal obligations. Nothing in these terms limits or excludes liability where it would be unlawful to do so.

We are not responsible for losses that were not reasonably foreseeable, or for business losses where services are supplied to a consumer for domestic use.

14. Privacy

We use customer information only for managing enquiries, bookings, quotations, invoices, service records and customer care. Please see our Privacy Policy for further information about how we handle personal data.

15. Governing law

These terms are governed by the laws of England and Wales. Any dispute will be subject to the courts of England and Wales.
